Cabinet approves 28 percent hike in DA, DR

New Delhi| The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an increase in dearness allowance to central government employees and dearness relief to pensioners to 28 percent with effect from July 1 this year. This represents an increase of 11 percent over the existing rate of 17 percent of basic pay/pension.

In view of the unforeseen situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic, three additional installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners, which are on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and Rs. were due from January 1, 2021, but the freeze was imposed.

Now the government has decided to increase the dearness allowance to central government employees and dearness relief to pensioners to 28 percent with effect from July 1, 2021, which will be 11 percent from the existing rate of 17 percent of basic pay/pension. is growth.

This increase reflects the additional installments due on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021. For the period from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, the rate of Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief will remain the same at 17 percent.

The decision was taken at a cabinet committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence earlier in the day.
