Canada to deposit $ 2 million for oxygen supply in India

Toronto | The Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce, along with 80 community organizations, launched a marathon fundraiser to raise $ 2 million to send oxygen equipment to India. With this, Ontario announced the sending of 2,000 more ventilators to the country battling Kovid. Around $ 5 million was raised during the marathon fundraiser’s first season on Sunday.

It will be held for three hours every Sunday for four weeks.

David president of the Manitoba Métis Federation, declared, “We are like Indians. Even though we are from different parts of the world. India will be for us when we need it, and we should be there for them right now. We will donate $ 50,000 to the ICCC and will do more if needed. ”

ICCC President Vijay Thomas said his initiative aims to receive donations not only from the 10.06 lakh Indian Canadian community but also from businesses and cities across Canada.

Thomas said, “The money will be used to send oxygen concentrators and generators and we will find new ways to send oxygen to India.” We want to make sure that the first Tier 2 and 3 cities and towns severely affected by the oxygen virus reach. ”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, top political leaders including mayors, business owners and medical professionals participated in marathon grant fundraising.

Ford announced that 2,000 additional ventilators are being shipped to India, besides 3,000 have already been delivered.

Referring to the delivery of one million vaccine doses by Canada to India earlier this year, the Ontario Premier said that by Tuesday, Air Canada’s entire aircraft is full of all types of supplies in India. The people of India are for us and we will be for them.

Frank Scarpitti of Markham City, who has visited India several times and is highly respected in the Indo-Canadian community, announced a donation of $ 10,000 to the ICCC initiative.
