Bengaluru | The countdown to the results of the Karnataka assembly elections has begun. The strong rooms were opened at 7 am on Saturday and the counting of votes started at 8 am amid tight security arrangements. The counting of votes is being done at 36 centers in district headquarters across the state. Authorities imposed a curfew in the state capital Bengaluru and communally sensitive Dakshina Kannada district to avoid untoward incidents and maintain law and order situation.
The assembly elections in the state are being described as the semi-finals of the Lok Sabha elections.
Most exit polls have predicted Congress to emerge as the single largest party, indicating a hung assembly.
JD(S) has already sent signals to national parties and sources claim that national parties have also reached out to JD(S) leaders.
