CP DELHI LAUNCHES E-LEARNING PLATFORM ‘UNNATI’ FOR YOUTH TO GET CERTIFICATION & JOBS

New Delhi: The Commissioner of Police, Delhi Sh. Rakesh Asthana today launched “Unnati”, an e-Learning platform at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Auditorium, Nelson Mandela Marg, unveiling the South West District initiative under flagship scheme YUVA to help the youth, especifically from weaker sections of the society and school dropouts, who get deprived of mainstream learning process, get education, skills and realise their dreams of secure future.

Through this e-learning platform, these youngsters are inspired to enroll and choose the program of their choice. “Unnati” portal has been designed in a very simple way. Anyone can learn from anywhere through a laptop, desktop, tablet or simply a mobile phone. It provides training and side-by-side placement to trainees. The features of this platform comprise counselling, training and placement. It is an an effective open learning system and live online classes is the speciality of this program. It also makes available the recordings of the session once it is over, so that any trainee who missed the live class can go through it again. On the successful completion of the e-Learning course, a certificate is awarded which helps the holder in getting placement. The courses offered include Digital Literacy Course comprising Basic Computer courses, Typing training, preparatory courses for Competitive exams and Sports courses etc. “Unnati” Placement Cell has also been set up, which would help in getting placement to these trained youth.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Shri Rakesh Asthana hailed “Unnati” as an effective initiative to strengthen the chord of togetherness with society. The CP, Delhi emphasised that every year over 1.5 lakhs persons are arrested by Delhi Police for various crimes and more than 85 percent of the arrested persons are first timers, while only 10-15% are repeat offenders. Community policing initiatives like YUVA & Unnati target that these 85% do not fall in the web of crime and they get a chance to take a fresh shot at life and join the mainstream as builders of society.

The CP Delhi Delhi felicitated YUVA trainees who have got jobs and are supporting their family livelihood. He said he had gone through the profiles of YUVA trainees felicitated today and he was deeply touched by their dedication to overcome the odds which were against them. Although police work is about containing and solving crime, however at any given moment a policeman is providing selfless service to general public especially from weaker sections of society. He also urged the mediapersons to cover social and community services provided Delhi Police. He advised the youngsters among the audience to stay away from drugs, which are root cause of most crimes. This Unnati scheme would be replicated in other districts of Delhi under PPP model and with the help of YUVA stakeholders, Shri Asthana said.

ANCHORS OF HOPE: SEVEN YUVA TRAINEES FELICITATED UPON GETTING JOBS

During the function, chief guest Shri Rakesh Asthana felicitated the youngsters, who got benefited through social community programmes and achieved success through YUVA flagship scheme of Delhi Police. These seven children were trained by YUVA partners M/s Radha Krishna Infotech and NGO Step Ahead and were suitably placed as per professional skills attained by them.

• Ms. Megha was not having good family support after completing 12th class and was looking for a job. She joined 04 months training programme in computers under YUVA and now she is placed as HR Executive in Excellence Hunt HR Services Pvt. Ltd.

• Ms. Ritu Rani was in distress after getting separated from her husband. She joined YUVA skill development program with Step Ahead Foundation and is now working as Delhi Civil Defence Volunteer.

• Ms. Kanchan was in distress after the death of her father. She joined the YUVA SKILL DEVELOPMENT programme and now she is well placed as a Receptionist in real estate sector.

• Ms Dolly was looking for a job to assist her family and joined under YUVA and is now working as Receptionist cum Computer Operator in a Diagnostic Centre.

• Ms. Pinki was in distress, as her father lost his job due to COVID. She got a call from YUVA Project for training as a Covid warrior to work on an emergency COVID response vehicle of South West District. Now she is a Nursing Assistant in a Hospital.

• Mr. Rahat Ali lost his father due to COVID and got training through YUVA Mobile Phone repairing course. He initially worked in a mobile repair shop at Karol Bagh and now runs his own Mobile Repair
Shop.

• Mr. Praveen came in an interaction with police in a mobile theft matter. Through the police officials, he came to know about the YUVA project. He took training of retail sales under YUVA and now is successfully placed as an executive in a Call Centre.

SHORT FILM ‘SATARK’ SHOWN

A short film “SATARK”, depicting real incidents and narrated by actual victims and complainants, was also played. It highlighted the efforts of South West District to beef up police visibility and to control crime through:
• Comprehensive and Effective foot patrolling
• Ensuring police visibility
• Promoting Community policing through enhanced public interaction during foot patrolling
• Public outreach with general public in JJ Clusters, Malls and Market with the concept of police at your doorstep.

Special CsP Ms. S Sundari Nanda, Sh. Dependra Pathak, Sh. Satish Golchha, Sh. Devesh Shrivastva and Sh. Jaspal Singh were present on the occasion besides representatives from YUVA stakeholders. Shri Gaurav Sharma, DCP/South West District conducted the programme while Shri Amit Goel, additional DCP gave the vote of thanks.
