New Delhi: In a jubilant celebration of its 125-year legacy, Hindu College, University of Delhi organized ‘The Quasquicentennial March.’ This symbolic journey, honouring the rich heritage and accomplishments of Hindu College, unfolded as a grand spectacle amidst a series of vibrant events marking this historical milestone.
The ceremonial flag-off of the march was graced by TCA Rangachari, Chairman of the Governing Body, Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal, actor and alumnus Arjun Rampal, accompanied by Vidyut Jammwal, Amy Jackson and faculty members.
The remarkable journey through the North Campus of the University of Delhi, covered eight renowned colleges and the office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi. Faculty members, students, non-teaching staff, and alumni of Hindu College participated in this event with great zeal.
Principals of the respective colleges, Prof. John Varghese – St. Stephen’s College; Prof. Rama – Hansraj College; Prof. Dinesh Khattar- Kirori Mal College; Prof. Hardeep Kaur – Ramjas College; Prof. Savita Roy – Daulat Ram College; Prof. Simrit Kaur – Shri Ram College of Commerce; Dr. Surinder Kaur- Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College; Prof. Bijayalaxmi Nanda – Miranda House and Dr. Vikas Gupta – Registrar, University of Delhi, were presented with mementoes commemorating the 125 years’ celebration of Hindu College. The souvenirs were tokens of respect, symbolising the shared history and camaraderie among these esteemed institutions.
The decorated four tableau jeeps in the march provided a visual narrative of Hindu College’s journey, from its humble beginnings at Kinari Bazaar to its current location in the North Campus. It showcased recent infrastructural developments and illustrious alumni of Hindu College who were bestowed with the Padma Awards by the Government of India.
The concluding spectacle took place at the Sports Complex of Hindu College, where participants came together to form a captivating human representation of HC@125, symbolizing the unity and strength of Hindu College.
Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, expressed her enthusiasm and mentioned that this celebration of 125 years and The Quasquicentennial March’ is a significant occasion for all of us. Hindu College has played a pivotal role in shaping young minds and contributing to the nation’s progress.
