Diwali in Tamil Nadu: People in Tamil Nadu are celebrating traditional Diwali on Saturday by bathing with sesame oil, wearing new clothes and bursting firecrackers. Though people usually start their day with the sound of bursting firecrackers, but this morning the sound of firecrackers was not heard due to morning rain.
At the same time, when the sun came out after the rain, people started bursting firecrackers.
On the national festival, people asked each other and friends and relatives the traditional question which is ‘Ganga Sthanam good’, which means did you bathe in the holy waters of the Ganges river?
Public Sector Employees Murali said, “We got up early and took a bath with oil. The morning bursting of firecrackers was also over.”
Neighbors exchanged sweets, sevai and special Diwali Legium (a kind of herbal jam).
At the same time, many devotees were seen in temples to pray on this special day.
