Fire at Delhi AIIMS building brought under control

New Delhi. A fire broke out in the endoscopy room on the second floor of a building of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday. A fire department official said that the fire has been brought under control and everyone is safe.

All the patients were evacuated safely after the fire broke out, the official said.

Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg had earlier said, “A call about a fire was received at 11.54 am from the emergency ward of AIIMS. A total of 8 fire engines reached the spot.”

Garg said that the fire broke out on the second floor of the main building (old Rajkumari OPD building) and the fire is now under control.

The fire reportedly broke out in the endoscopy room of the building and all the patients were evacuated safely, no injuries were reported.

Pictures of the fire in the endoscopy room are being circulated on social media. This room was badly damaged in the fire.

The photographs clearly show that equipment, files, tables and other material have been gutted in the fire.
