BAREILLY: The first FIR has been registered in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh under a recently issued ordinance to ban forced marriage, ie ‘love jihad’. A complaint in this regard was lodged at Deorania Police Station on Saturday night.
Tikaram, a resident of Sharif Nagar village under Deorania Police Circle, lodged a complaint that a young man from his village was luring his daughter and now pressurizing her to convert.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 504/506 and 3/5 of the Religious Act.
A spokesman for the state home department said further action was being taken in the case and investigations were on.
