Governor Dhankhar targeted Mamta, said no one is above the constitution

Kolkata | West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to limit his visit as per the recommendations of the state government, while Dhankhar targeted the Chief Minister and the government. He reminded them that no one is above the constitution and the constitutional post like governor does not come under administration. After landing in Cooch Behar by BSF helicopter on Thursday, Dhankhar said, “What did the chief minister write to me? That is that I have to follow the recommendations of the state. This will bring the post of the governor under administration.”

The governor questioned, “The governor will only go to the places recommended by the state. Should the Constitution of India fall under the administrative decisions of the government?”

The Governor’s response comes after Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to him on Wednesday. Mamta wrote that the governor should not take a sudden and unilateral decision regarding traveling to any place. They should follow the recommendations made by the government.

The Chief Minister also wrote: “The Governor’s Secretary fixes the program for the Governor to visit places in the districts on the recommendation of a private party or a government institution. Before that, he consults the Commissioner and District Magistrate of Government and Division. He is in charge of the proper execution of the overall program. ”

The chief minister also told him not to go to Cooch Behar without the recommendation of the state government.

Mamta wrote, “I have come to know from social media that you are acting unilaterally for Coochbehar district on 13-5-2021 and sadly I think the long-term norms that have been developing for many decades Is being violated. Therefore, I expect that you will abide by the established rules of the protocol, as stated above, and avoid abrupt decisions regarding field visits. ”

After reaching Cooch Behar to take stock of the post-election violence, the governor said, “There were elections in four states and one union territory. There was no problem. Why was there only bloodshed in Bengal? People who had a party Did not give their support in favor of them, his rights were crushed. He had to pay the price for his life. ”

The governor blamed the chief minister for the violence in the state. He said, “It all started when Mamta said that the central forces would not last forever and I was sad when I saw that during the elections she was asking to ignore the law and the constitution and the law and said Was that the law would begin on May 2. ”

Dhankar also criticized the Calcutta High Court for giving a clean chit to the state government regarding the post-election violence. He said, “I saw the media presenting the narrator that the Calcutta High Court has given a clean chit to the government. I have not seen such a thing anywhere. I have investigated it.”

However, the Trinamool Congress reacted sharply, saying the governor had ignored the constitution.

A senior Trinamool Congress leader said, “The governor has crossed all limits. I will ask him to read the constitution, which specifically mentions that the governor should act on the recommendations and suggestions of the state government.”.
