NEW DELHI| The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), the technology backbone of the GST system, on Wednesday launched the NIL filing facility of GSTR-1 via SMS.
This will benefit about 12 lakh taxpayers, who will now be able to file their returns without logging into the GST portal. To avail this facility, taxpayers will need to send in a prescribed format.
Along with SMS, the facility of filing returns on the portal will also be available.
Neil returns for Form GSTR-1 can be filed on monthly basis and quarterly basis. GSTN has introduced one successive SMS facility to file a net return within a month.
From June 8, taxpayers have been allowed to file GSTR-3B returns via SMS.
