Delhi: Hindu College marked its 126th Founder’s Day with a grand celebration, paying tribute to Late Krishna Dass Gurwale and its rich legacy of contributions to academia and society. The event was graced by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, alongside Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the students, the Chief Guest, Dharmendra Pradhan, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders on this momentous occasion. He lauded the college’s pioneering skill training program in fragrance formulation for wellness products, which has empowered 30 internally displaced women from Manipur, fostering economic development and social stability. The Minister also commended the college’s innovative spirit, highlighting the efforts of students and faculty in developing and patenting high-performance novel air purifiers using sustainable materials in portable and wearable versions, significantly contributing to the health and environmental sectors. He also emphasized that Hindu College will continue to set benchmarks in academia, innovation, and social impact, reaffirming its status as a premier institution dedicated to shaping future leaders and changemakers.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh, reflected on Hindu College’s spectacular 126-year journey of academic excellence and accomplishments. Encouraging students, he said, “Education shapes not only our capabilities but also our perspective. With the right vision and dedication, we can contribute to the nation’s progress, aligning with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.”
The Principal of Hindu College, Prof. Anju Srivastava, presented the annual report, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to skill-oriented and capacity-building education. She underscored Hindu College’s dynamic ecosystem that nurtures startups and innovative ventures, enabling students to pursue entrepreneurial aspirations. She also shared that students have successfully launched several startups focused on customer services, healthy food, and innovative beverage alternatives.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of distinguished personalities for their contributions to Hindu College. Sant Sanganeria, Founding Chairman and Managing Director of Ultra International Limited was honored with the ‘Shiksha Utthan Shiromani Award.’ Subodh Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Siddho Mal Group, and Dr. Lalit Bhasin, Chairman of the Boys’ Hostel Development Committee, received the ‘Saarthak Samman,’ while Rajesh Mehra, Founding Director of Jaguar Industries, was recognized for his significant contributions to the college.
Adding to the celebrations, the Chief Guest inaugurated the state-of-the-art Hindu College Library, now expanded to four floors with the generous support of the Jaquar Foundation. The library also houses the S. N. P. Punj Memorial Knowledge Center for e-learning, marking a new milestone in modern education.
The grand event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing toppers from Delhi University and Hindu College. The celebrations also featured a vibrant cultural program at the Sports Complex, showcasing the artistic brilliance and skill development initiatives of the college’s talented students.
