New Delhi | India and Thailand will cooperate with each other in the field of defence. Both countries have decided that several new initiatives will now be taken to further strengthen bilateral relations. A high-level delegation from India will soon be on an official visit to Thailand for talks. During this, India and Thailand will also exchange views on regional and global issues. According to the Indian Defense Ministry, India and Thailand share a strategic partnership and defense is a major pillar of this cooperation. At the invitation of the Government of Thailand, Nivedita Shukla Verma, Special Secretary, Ministry of Defence, will pay an official visit to Bangkok from April 20-21. During the visit, the Special Secretary will co-chair the 8th meeting of the India-Thailand Defense Dialogue with General Nuchit Sribunsong, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Thailand on April 20, 2023.
The Defense Ministry says that during the talks, the co-chairs will review defense cooperation between the two countries and discuss new initiatives to further strengthen bilateral relations. The two sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues of common interest. As part of her visit, the Special Secretary will also call on General Sanichnog Sangkachandra, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defense of Thailand.
The Ministry of Defense believes that India and Thailand share a strategic partnership and defense is a key pillar of this cooperation. Bilateral defense ties have expanded to include extensive interactions between the two countries, including defense dialogue meetings, military exchanges, high-level visits, capacity-building and training programs, and bilateral exercises.
