Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Jannayak Karpoori Thakur, was honored with the country’s highest honor, Bharat Ratna, by President Draupadi Murmu. It was announced by the Modi government at the Center to award him Bharat Ratna posthumously.
Ramnath Thakur, son of late Karpuri Thakur, received this honor in a program organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
Former Prime Minister of the country PV Narasimha Rao was also awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously. His son, PV Prabhakar Rao, received this honor from the President.
At the same time, Chaudhary Charan Singh, another former Prime Minister of the country and considered the messiah of farmers, was also honored with the Bharat Ratna posthumously. His grandson, Jayant Chaudhary, received this honor in a program organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The country’s famous agricultural scientist, MS Swaminathan, was also awarded the Bharat Ratna (posthumously). His daughter, Nitya Rao, received the honor from President Draupadi Murmu.
On this occasion, many central government ministers and other dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, were present.
Lal Krishna Advani is also to be honored with the Bharat Ratna. It is being told that President Draupadi will visit Murmu Advani’s house and honor him with Bharat Ratna.
