New Delhi, August 16 . Relief and rescue work is going on in full swing after the massive cloudburst incident in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. So far, the bodies of 53 people have been recovered and they have been officially declared dead.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, while giving information on the social media platform X on Saturday, said that relief and rescue work is going on in ‘full swing’ and the army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and administration are engaged with full force.
Jitendra Singh wrote in the post, “I wholeheartedly appreciate the heroic efforts of the Army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the administration, who have left no stone unturned to make every possible effort in this difficult situation, which is a natural disaster as well as natural obstacles like inaccessible mountainous terrain, inadequate connectivity and bad weather. Equally appreciated are the local residents, who were all shocked by the massive cloudburst incident on the afternoon of August 14, and were the first to immediately spring into action.” He wrote, “What could be more comforting than the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation. In fact, it was only after 2014 that the holy Machail Yatra area could be provided with basic amenities like road connectivity, mobile towers, electricity, drinking water and toilets due to the intervention of the Center. All possible help is being provided to the affected. But the lost loved ones cannot be brought back.” The Union Minister further wrote, “53 bodies have already been recovered and officially declared dead. It is scary to think how many more people are still buried under the debris and how many were swept away in those deadly 15 seconds.”
Let us tell you that there was a sudden flood in Chishoti area of Kishtwar on Thursday after a cloudburst.
