Last Chance to Save IICC: Afzal Amanullah

New Delhi, August 10 On the last day of campaigning for the August 11 election of India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), a renowned cultural center in New Delhi, all candidates put in their full efforts. Addressing a gathering of over 600 voters in Kalindi Kunj, Delhi, Afzal Amanullah, a former Secretary of the Government of India, a well-known bureaucrat, and a candidate for the IICC president’s position, stated that this is the last chance to save IICC. He urged voters to actively participate in the voting to remove corrupt, incompetent, and inactive individuals from the Centre. Amanullah appealed to voters to elect qualified, experienced, honest, and hardworking individuals to restore the dignity of the Centre and make it the voice of the community once again. He encouraged voters to review his profile and consider it before casting their votes, highlighting his 45 years of government service experience, clean image, and full-time dedication to the Centre.

Dr. M. Rahmatullah, the spokesperson for Team Afzal Amanullah and a candidate for the Board of Trustees (BOT), stated that IICC voters are very aware this time. They are fed up with the mismanagement of the past twenty years. There is no distinction between members and non-members at IICC, with no facilities available for members. Senior journalist and academician Dr. M. Rahmatullah mentioned that members of the Islamic Centre constantly feel neglected, leading voters to decide to change the old system this time.

Former Chairman of Haj Committee of India and senior IICC member, Mr Salamatullah, strongly criticized all other panels, stating that many candidates for the president’s position held high-ranking positions but did not accomplish anything memorable for the community. Mr Salamatullah expressed that only Afzal Amanullah is a capable, experienced, hardworking, and service-oriented candidate for the IICC presidency. His entire team is highly educated and honest, and he urged voters to elect Afzal Amanullah and his entire team with a significant majority.

Vice-presidential candidate Badruddin Khan, while addressing the gathering, mentioned that when he tried to bring about changes in the Centre as Secretary, the nexus at IICC not only prevented him from working but also revoked his primary membership. Later, a court observer reinstated his membership. BOT candidate and former Chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission, Kamal Faruqui, stated that among the presidential candidates, only Afzal Amanullah has a clean image and a passion for working for the community. He noted that Amanullah has the time and the will to improve IICC.

Other BOT candidates, including Sikandar Hayat Khan, Athar Zeya, Saiful Islam, Suhail Rafat, Dr. Parvez Hayat, and Bihar MLC Syed Faisal Ali, also addressed the gathering, appealing to voters to elect the entire Afzal Amanullah team with a strong majority.
