Prayag| Mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed has been convicted in a case for the first time. On Tuesday, a special court convicted three accused including former MLA Rajupal murder case mafia and former MP Atiq Ahmed and sentenced them to rigorous life imprisonment.
ADG law and order Prashant Kumar said that today the main mafia of the state Atiq Ahmed has been sentenced in any case for the first time. In the kidnapping case of Umesh Pal, today the Hon’ble Court has sentenced three accused to life imprisonment. Along with life imprisonment, a fine of Rs 1 lakh each has been imposed on all three accused. The accused include Atiq Ahmed, Khan Shaukat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi.
On the court’s decision, UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad said that the sentence of life imprisonment to Atiq Ahmed and others from the Prayagraj court is welcome. No criminal is above the law nor can he escape.
Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak said in Banda on the court’s decision on Atiq Ahmed that our government is eliminating crime and criminals. Litigation is being done in the court. Each and every criminal should get the harshest punishment. A fear-free environment has been created in the entire state. We will send every criminal to jail.
District Government Advocate Gulab Chandra Agrahari said that Prayagraj’s MP-MLA (MP-MLA) court judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla had convicted three accused, including Atiq Ahmed, his lawyer Saulat Hanif and former councilor Dinesh Pasi, in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case in 2006. Convicted under Section 364-A of the Indian Penal Code, sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each on all three. This amount will be given to Umesh Pal’s family.
Umesh Pal’s family has expressed satisfaction over the court’s decision. But, they are afraid that Atiq Ahmed can do anything from jail, so he should be hanged in the case of Umesh’s murder.
Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Devi said that this terror will continue till Atiq, his brother and son are eliminated. I respect the decision of the judiciary. I would like the Chief Minister to eliminate Atiq Ahmed so that his terror can also be curbed.
Umesh Pal’s mother Shanti Devi told reporters that she had full faith in the court after the three convicts, including Ahmed, were sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of kidnapping of her son. But Ahmed can get anything done even while in jail, so she requests the court to sentence Ahmed to death in the case of her son’s murder.
It may be known that in the 17-year-old Umesh Pal kidnapping case, the Prayagraj court on Tuesday convicted Atiq Ahmed, Dinesh Pasi and Khan Shaukat Hanif. Apart from this, the remaining seven accused have been acquitted. Sections 364 A/34, 120 E, 147, 323/149, 341, 342, 504, 506 (2) have been imposed against Mafia Atiq and Dinesh Pasi, whereas sections 364 and 120 E have been imposed against Khan Shaukat.
