Manoj Mauryaa’s ‘The Icecake’ brings riding subculture to mainstream cinema

The Icecake is a Hindi feature film about the adventurous journey of 12 real-life riders from Delhi to Spiti. Painter-Filmmaker Manoj Mauryaa brings the motorcycle riding subculture to mainstream cinema with his Hindi feature film, ‘The Icecake’. A special preview of the film is arranged for the riders and the rider brotherhood groups on 10th September 2022 at IIMC Auditorium in Delhi.

The film is a journey of 12 real-life riders from Delhi to Spiti Valley in the Himalayas which begins as an adventure ride but soon changes into fights, treachery, failed relationships, and struggle for survival eventually turning into a self-discovery which no rides have given them.

Manoj has written and directed a German feature film, ‘The Concertmaster’. The film is about the struggle of a dyslexic violinist in a symphony orchestra. When asked why he chose Germany to shoot his film, Manoj says “My film required principles of balance and formal discipline of orchestra music and what better country than Germany who has world-class stature in western classical music, traditional choir singing and orchestra performances.”

The special preview of The Icecake is being flagged off by the rider groups with a ride from Delhi to the IIMC Auditorium. The film is presented by Muse Movies, co-produced by Sanjay Anmol Sinha, music by Rohit Sharma and directed by Manoj Mauryaa.
