Maruti Suzuki introduces its first electric car ‘E Vitara’, will be exported to 100 countries

New Delhi, Jan 17  Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Friday introduced its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) SUV, ‘E Vitara’ with electric eco-solution at the ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’.

Built on an all-new electric vehicle (EV) platform called ‘HEARTECT-E’, the electric vehicle is offered in two battery options 49 kWh and 61 kWh and covers a distance of over 500 km on a single charge, the company said in a statement.

Affirming its dedication to establish the country as a global hub of EV manufacturing, the company said the e-Vitara will be exported to over 100 countries, including key markets like Japan and Europe.

The price of the electric SUV, available in 10 colours with four dual-tone options, will be revealed later.

Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, said, “The leading automaker aims to make BEVs attractive to customers through a three-pronged strategy. The first is to develop BEV-dedicated platforms for optimum performance. The second is to develop the right products for the target markets based on customer requirements. The third is to take advantage of our global economies and concentrate manufacturing in one location for the world.” He said, “For this purpose, we have chosen India as the global manufacturing base because of our quality products and ability to scale. This is the Make in India vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The electric SUV is offered with an integrated display system, along with a twin-deck floating console and a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, sliding and reclining rear seats and an advanced technology for safety.

According to Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, the car has seven airbags (including driver side airbag) as standard and 60 features along with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. The e Vitara comes with highly-efficient battery pack options, which covers a distance of more than 500 km in 61 kWh on a single charge.

He said, “We have equipped the e Vitara with many premium and advanced features like Level 2 ADAS, integrated digital display and next-gen Suzuki Connect “The automaker is setting up 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops spread across over a thousand cities.
