NDMC Chairman Administers Integrity Pledge to Mark Vigilance Awareness Week

New Delhi:To mark the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Shri Manoj Kumar Dwivedi administered the Integrity Pledge to the Heads of Departments and senior officers at the NDMC Headquarters, Palika Kendra today in the presence of Chief Vigilance Officer – Ms. Astha Lakshmi, Secretary, NDMC – Shri Rahul Singh and Financial Advisor – Shri Rakesh Kumar to fight against corruption and bring transparency in their working.

Addressing the Officers and employees, the Chairman emphasised that corruption is not limited to monetary transactions but can also take the form of negligence, dereliction of duty and failure to establish appropriate systems and discipline.

“There is a form of corruption where no cash is involved. If you fail to perform your duty, ignore an important aspect of your work or fail to put systems and discipline in place where you could have done, that too amounts to corruption,” he said.

Highlighting the two major challenges posed by corruption, Shri Dwivedi said, “One form of corruption is where a citizen is forced to face difficulties in getting work done. To address this, we are making our services online and faceless so that people do not have to visit or approach individuals to get their work done. The second form is when people collude to cheat the system. I believe both forms pose a significant challenge.”

Shri Dwivedi also stressed the need to strengthen the complaint redressal mechanism and create greater public awareness about reporting corruption and misconduct. He suggested making contact details, including telephone numbers and email IDs, widely accessible and exploring the possibility of introducing a dedicated vigilance app. Such a mechanism would enable citizens to report instances where they are asked for bribes, face unnecessary difficulties or are subjected to harassment.

NDMC is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from October 26 to November 1, 2026, to highlight the importance of integrity, probity and ethical conduct in governance, public administration and public life. The theme for this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week is “Probity for Prosperity.”
