New Delhi: With the aim to promote Art & Culture and enhance the esthetic look with beautification of the New Delhi area, Vice Chairman, NDMC Shri Satish Upadhyay informed that New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will install theme-based sculptures at major roundabouts and other prominent places of New Delhi area in a phased manner under ” Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” being celebrating 75th years of India’s Independence on the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi
Shri Upadhyay further informed that for the purpose a “Sculpture Camp” is being organized by NDMC in collaboration with Sahitya Kala Parishad in its area where 12 different sculpture artisans will carve out 12 black marble stone sculptures which would be displayed at different locations in the New Delhi area.
While briefing about the project, Shri Upadhyay informed us that these 12 sculptures will be made in a size of 6 to 8 feet by renowned artisans. Shri Upadhyay said as we know that the sculpture is considered as representational art through which we may present different forms in life, most often human figures but also inanimate objects.
He said these renowned artisans will produce their sculptures on the Indian culture, heritage and different subjects of walks of life with the close interaction of their Indian counterparts to showcase 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. He said our aim is to enhance and makeover the aesthetic look of urban landscaping of the New Delhi area.
Shri Upadhyay said Sahitya Kala Parishad will not only arrange the renowned sculpture artists for the camp but also the work like procurement of stone & tools, payment to the curator, coordinators etc. NDMC will arrange the venue, crane facility at the venue, installation of sculptures at the designated venue, permission from the authorities like DUAC, NGT etc.
Shri Upadhyay said this is a good chance for artisans to showcase their natural and fundamental talent towards thousands of visitors visiting the New Delhi area daily from across the country and abroad. He said such initiatives of NDMC are aimed to give the city its identity and culture by providing permanent public artwork for the capital under an art Special Project.
