Pakistan win toss, decide to bat first against India

Dubai, Oct 6iana Baig and Pooja Vastrakar will not be seen in action as Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against India in a Group A match of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

India will go into Sunday’s match on the back of a 58-run loss to New Zealand, while Pakistan registered a satisfying 31-run win over Sri Lanka. The match, which will be played on a new pitch, is also the 100th T20I to be played in Dubai.

Diana had to leave the field with a possible calf injury after bowling just one ball against Sri Lanka. With her not fit, Pakistan have included leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah in the playing XI.

For India, with Pooja injured, aggressive all-rounder Sajeevan Sanjana has been included in the playing XI. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We would have batted first as well, but we have to bowl well and stop them. We have to go ahead with a positive attitude, it is always how you bounce back and we have talked about that. We will go out on the field and play positive cricket.”
