PM Modi may visit US this month, preparations underway for visit

New Delhi/Washington, Feb 1 Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Washington this month. The visit may take place soon after his participation in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit to be held at the Grand Palace in Paris on February 10 and 11.

The issues discussed during PM Modi’s phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on January 27 also included a visit to the White House. During this, there was talk about strengthening friendship and strategic relations’ between the two countries.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a regular media briefing on Friday, “Both sides are working on PM Modi’s visit to the US to further deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. The dates of this visit are being worked out and will be announced in due course.”

It is expected that the Prime Minister will visit the United States for a bilateral visit after attending the AI ​​summit in Paris.

The visit will strengthen the friendship and strategic ties between the two countries. PM Modi will be among the first foreign leaders to visit the White House during President Trump’s historic second presidential term.

The US President has already promised to strengthen the ‘great partnership’ with India and Prime Minister Modi.

“We have started the groundwork in terms of the invitation sent to Prime Minister Modi to visit the US soon after President Trump took office,” former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told IANS.

Shringla said the visit will set the stage for all subsequent decisions. It will significantly enhance ties ahead of President Trump’s visit to India for the Quad summit to be held later in the year.
