Presidential election – PM Modi casts his vote first, Sitharaman and RK Singh voted wearing PPE kits

New Delhi| The voting process for the Presidential election is over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi first arrived at the polling booth set up for the presidential election in the Parliament House complex at 10 am and cast his vote. Apart from the Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and elected members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha exercised their franchise for the President.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Energy Minister RK Singh arrive at Parliament House to vote, despite ill health. Being Kovid positive, both these leaders voted to wear PPE kits.

According to the information received, 8 MPs from different political parties did not vote in the presidential election. Sunny Deol is abroad for treatment and Sanjay Dhotre is in ICU. Atul Kumar Singh could not vote due to being in jail. Apart from these three MPs, Gajanan Chandrakant, Hemant Godse, Fazlur Rehman, Mohammad Sadiq and Syed Imtiaz Jaleel did not vote in the presidential election.
