Sheikh Abdullah of the UAE inspected Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi

UAE Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan inspected the site of the first Hindu temple being built in Abu Dhabi and reviewed its construction progress. Khaleej Times reported on Friday that the foundation of the temple was laid in April last year and construction started in December. The temple is expected to be completed by 2022.

During this time Sheikh Abdullah also met representatives of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, the social and spiritual organization that built the temple. The minister also held discussions with the leader of the Hindu community and the revered Brahmavihari Swami, head of the BAPM Hindu temple.

The Khaleej Times quoted Swamy in his report as saying, “This is a unique opportunity not to preserve ancient art and architecture, but to create new art and new heritage.”

He continued, “In such a challenging time of the Kovid-19 pandemic such a project of global harmony will rekindle trust and hope and enhance their dedication to unparalleled friendship, progress, and peace between India and the UAE.”

Indian Ambassador Pawan Kapoor, who was involved in this discussion, told how this temple will serve a large population of UAE and Gulf.
