New Delhi, March 2 ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ program was organized at Major Dhyanchand Stadium in Delhi, in which former Indian cricketer and currently DSP in Haryana Police Joginder Sharma participated as the chief guest. Apart from Sharma, double medal winner of squash game Anahat Singh, gold medalist of squash game Ramit Tandon and squash coach were present. The purpose of this program was to make people aware of fitness and encourage cycling.
Joginder Sharma spoke to news agency IANS on this occasion and shared his views on fitness. He said, “I felt very good because this is a great message for the youth from our government. Only if our body is healthy, we will be able to do something in life. I myself cycled about six to seven kilometers here, and more than a thousand people, including children, women, elderly and youth, were participating in this program. It was a great experience.”
In today’s digital age, children and youth are more active on social media or are busy playing mobile games. Expressing concern over this, he said, “We all should take time out for our body. It is very important to exercise at least three to four days a week. Prime Minister Modi’s thinking has always been visionary. He believes that a healthy body gives birth to a healthy mind, and this is why he supports such programs to promote fitness.”
The Indian cricket team has currently reached the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy with a great performance. Talking about this, Joginder Sharma said that the Indian cricket team has been performing brilliantly in the last few years. He expressed hope that India will become the champion this time too. Also, he described New Zealand and Australia as the main competitors for the Indian team.
When he was asked about the captain of the Indian cricket team after Rohit Sharma, he said, “Rohit is currently performing brilliantly and is fully fit. It would not be right to say at this time who will become the captain after him. It will be decided when the time comes.”
Regarding Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s presence in IPL, he said that fitness is very important in sports. As long as the player is fit, he can perform well.
On the question of the next potential Indian superstar of T20 cricket, he said that this format is unpredictable and it is difficult to predict the performance of any team or player. However, he described Test cricket as the best platform to test the real potential of players.
At the same time, squash player and Asian Games bronze medalist Ramit Tandon said in the event, “It is a very good thing that the country is being promoted so much in sports. I personally enjoyed a lot here that the game is being enjoyed in this way. Usually there is a lot of pressure in professional sports, so such events should be held. I appreciate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s thinking for this. My coach is also present here.”
Squash coach Gregory Gautier was also present in this event.
Double bronze medalist in Asian Games and young player Anahat Singh said that it is very fun to be in this event. Many people are together here. Everyone is enjoying. We three people have also come here together and we had a lot of fun.
