Sunit Sharma becomes new Chairman and CEO of Railway Board

NEW DELHI | The government on Thursday appointed Eastern Railway General Manager Sunit Sharma as the new board chairman and CEO of Indian Railways. According to an official notification, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed Sharma, IRSME (1981) as the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board. The tenure of the outgoing CEO of Railways VK Yadav on December 31, 2020, is taking place.”

Sharma, who was appointed General Manager of Eastern Railway on 19 September last year, has a strong technical background and expertise in many areas of Indian Railways.

Sharma is known to have initiated various administrative reforms, including simplification of the process to establish new benchmarks in national transporters.

He was earlier the General Manager of Modern Coach Factory in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
