Patna, November 20. At least five people died in the last 48 hours in a suspected hooch tragedy in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. However, the district administration has claimed that he died due to different reasons.
The bodies of four had already been cremated by their families, while one has been sent for postmortem, and its report is awaited.
The incident took place in Baharampur, Sirsa, Manpur, and Bamo villages of the Baikunthpur police station area of the district.
The deceased have been identified as Suresh Ram, Tinku Ram, Rohit Sharma, Jhagdu Rai and Sikandar Shah.
BJP state general secretary and former MLA Mithilesh Tiwari said, “Five people died between Saturday evening and Monday afternoon due to drinking poisonous liquor. District administration officials are threatening to send the families of the deceased to jail for their alleged involvement in the illegal liquor trade. Four bodies have been cremated.” ,
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Naval Kishore said, “The deceased were from different villages and died due to different reasons. One of them lived in Pune and had recently come home. He had some stomach-related problems. We have sent his body for postmortem so that the cause of his death can be known.”
