The number of patients who died in the fire at Covid Hospital in Maharashtra increased to 13

Palghar | At least 13 patients, including 6 women, were killed in a fire that broke out early Friday in a private Covid hospital in Virar in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. Officials gave this information. The fire broke out at around 3.15 am in the ICU ward located on the second floor of the four-story Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Tirupati Nagar in Virar city.

Firefighters and other agencies from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot and started working to extinguish the fire. The temporary cause of the fire is believed to be short- Circuit

After about 2 hours of effort, the fire was extinguished at around 5.50 am.

While about 4 out of 13 people in the ICU were relocated and evacuated safely before the flames spread more.

Taking this seriously, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray ordered an inquiry into the tragedy and announced a compensation of Rs 100,000 plus Rs 5 lakh to all the seriously injured.

Agriculture Minister and Palghar Conservation Minister Dada Bhuse, two local MLAs Hitendra Thakur, and his son Kshitij Thakur, top police and civil officials also reached the spot to review the rescue work.

This is the second major Covid tragedy to come two days after the oxygen gas leak at Nashik Municipal Corporation hospital in which 29 people lost their lives on Wednesday.
