New Delhi, August 20 A man attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the ‘Jan Sunwai’ on Wednesday morning. The attacker has been identified. He is a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat.
The person who attacked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been identified as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria, a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. He is 41 years old. The police have arrested the accused and taken him to Civil Lines police station.
The police is interrogating the attacker to find out the reasons for the attack. According to sources, Delhi Police has contacted Gujarat Police in this regard.
The attack on the Delhi CM is being seen as a major lapse in her security. Delhi Police will conduct an internal investigation into the incident to find out how this incident happened despite so much security. The case will be investigated under the chairmanship of Delhi Police Commissioner.
Sources told IANS that during the weekly public hearing, Rajesh suddenly came out and threw a heavy object at the Chief Minister. After the attack, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta fell on the ground.
It is being told that before attacking the Chief Minister, the attacker gave her some papers and cited a court case. After this he attacked the Chief Minister. According to sources, the Chief Minister is currently under the observation of a doctor and after the incident, security has been increased at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Senior Delhi Police officials are present at the spot and investigation is underway at the Civil Lines police station. According to the police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) was present at the residence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Public hearing is held every Wednesday at the Delhi Chief Minister’s camp office at Raj Niwas Marg. The public hearing starts at 7 am. During this, the CM meets all the people one by one.
