Wajid Khan, whose singing and music reflected his dominance, did his first and last song in the name of ‘bhai’

New Delhi, 6 October  A man sitting on a hospital bed is ill. Perhaps he also knows that only a few moments are left, yet he does not give up his dominance. He sings Hud Hud Dabang with great pride. Wajid had an amazing spirit to challenge death. He is among us even though he is not here today. Not only on the strength of his voice and music, but also by being associated with his brother’s name.

Wajid, as per his name, was an expert in creating something new and unique. The duo of Sajid and Wajid was considered very powerful, is and will always be. He started with Salman Khan’s film and composed one melodious song after another. The first film was ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’. He composed only one song but it was amazing and that was Teri Jawani Badi Mast Mast Hai.

Wajid was born on 7 October 1977 in a family of talented people. Father was the famous tabla player Sharafat Ali Khan. Grandfather was also Padma Shri awardee Ustad Faiyaz Ahmed Khan. Music was in his blood.

He composed music for a film for the first time in 1998 and then for a non-film album. He was very fond of playing the guitar. Brother Sajid often says that Wajid was an introvert but he had the talent to put his point across beautifully and he misses that style. One incident is often mentioned. It is said that once as a guitarist he was standing under the direction of a big musician. His partner played the wrong tune. When the music composer asked, he blamed young Wajid. Wajid did not say anything but was very disappointed and when he came out, he saw tears in the eyes of his father Sharafat too.

He told his grief to his brother who said, is a musician a great person, let’s compose our own music now. After this, both of them played a brilliant innings together.

Both were close to Salman Khan. The first song was also made for him and before leaving, Wajid also made the last song for ‘Bhai Bhai Bhai’ Salman Bhai.

He gave music in many films like Garv, Tere Naam, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Partner and also in Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and Dabangg 3. Apart from this, Wajid also gave his voice in Salman’s Mera Hi Jalwa, Fevicol Se and Akshay Kumar’s song Chinta Ta Chita Chita.

Wajid married the girl of his choice. It is said that the wall of religion came in the way later and both of them separated. Both of them also have two children from this marriage.

On 1 June 2020, Wajid died due to cardiac arrest. A month before this, Bhabhi Lubna had donated a kidney. Wajid was moving forward while battling the disease but then he lost to death and this ‘Dabangg’ departed from the world.
