Yuvamanthan Model United Nations 2024 at Hindu College

New Delhi : The Viksit Bharat Ambassador Club of Hindu College successfully organized the Yuvamanthan Model United Nations (MUN) 2024, an intellectually stimulating event designed to foster leadership and diplomatic skills among students. The central theme of this year’s MUN was “Lifestyle for Environment”, encouraging discussions on global and national policies related to sustainability and environmental consciousness.

The conference featured two committees: the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) and the All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM), offering participants a diverse platform to explore both international and domestic political scenarios. The agenda for COP29 focused on “Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Behavioral Changes through Policy and Incentives,” while the AIPPM tackled the pressing issue of “State of Disaster Mitigation and Management in Light of Recent Tragedies.”

Nearly 100 students took on various roles, such as delegates, secretariat members, executive board members, and organizing committee members, making this event a large-scale collaborative effort. Under the guidance of over 10 dedicated faculty advisors, the participants navigated through intense debates, negotiation sessions, and policy formulations over the course of the two-day event.

Prominent environmental scientists were invited as external judges to ensure the highest level of expertise and fairness in assessing the participants’ performances. Dr. Vandana Maurya, a renowned science communicator and environmental scientist, and Dr. Saurabh Sonwani, Head of South Asia & Middle East Network for iLEAPS (Integrated Land Ecosystem-Atmosphere Processes Study), a Global Research Project of Future Earth, lent their expertise and insights to the event.

The Delegate of Germany emerged as the Best Delegate in the COP29 committee, while the Delegate of China received a High Commendation. The event was a remarkable success, providing a platform for future leaders to engage with critical environmental and political issues, honing their skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and policy-making
