New Delhi | Delhi government says that vaccination of youth between 18 and 44 years in Delhi will have to be stopped from next week. CoviShield has only 3 days of stock left after the dose of covaxine is over. On behalf of the Delhi government, MLA Atishi said that the central government has sent 60,240 doses of cocaine on Tuesday for the category above 45 years. In such a situation, the vaccination centers of cocaine will not be closed for two days. Vaccination of youth between 18 and 44 years of age can be done in Delhi for 3 more days.
According to the Delhi government, 1,13,142 people were vaccinated in Delhi on May 17. 67,487 from 18 to 44 years and 45,655 people in the age group above 45 years have been vaccinated. So far, 46,94,970 vaccine doses have been made in Delhi. Out of which more than 36 lakh have been dosed on the first and 10,77,526 on the second dose.
Atishi said that the Walking Vaccination has started in about 100 schools for the category above 45 years of age. Walk-in centers will be extended in a few days. KoviShield has four days of stock left with Delhi for the 45-year category. The central government should provide a stock of Covyshield as per the schedule.
He said that in the second wave a lot of youth have become seriously ill and the death rate has been very high. Therefore, vaccination of 18 to 44 years is very important. So far, only 7 lakh people have been offered the first dose in the age group of 18 to 44 years in Delhi.
Atishi said that the second dose of the vaccine has come down slightly, as the new guidelines released by the Indian government yesterday have widened the gap between the two doses of the CoviShield vaccine.
He said that so far 46,94,970 vaccine doses have been made in Delhi, of which more than 36 lakh people have been given the first dose. The second dose has been deployed to 10,77,526 people.
Atishi said that for the last 2 days we were told that the stock of covaxine has also expired for the category above 45 years. In such a situation, the vaccine centers had to be closed from May 19 onwards. But would like to thank the central government that they have sent a stock of covicin on Tuesday morning.
60,240 doses of covaccine have been given in Delhi for the category above 45 years of age, hence the stock of 2-day covaxine is now available. Now the centers which were talking of closure will not be closed at the moment. KoviShield has four days of stock left with Delhi. We hope that according to the schedule set by the government, Delhi will get the stock of KoviShield in the next few days.
MLA Atishi said that the stock of covaccine for ages 18 to 44 has run out several days ago. After today’s vaccination in Delhi, only 3 days’ stock of Kovishield will be left. In such a situation, vaccination of youth between 18 and 44 years of age can be done in Delhi for 3 more days. In such a situation, the vaccination of the age group of 18 to 44 will be stopped from the coming week, because we have not got any vaccine stock yet. We expect the vaccine stock to be available for 18 to 44 years in the same manner as the Central Government has provided vaccine stock for the category above 45 years of age.
