12 officers of J&K Police Service were inducted into IPS

Srinagar | 12 serving officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service were on Monday inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS), resolving an age-old complaint of local police officers. According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, 12 officers from Jammu and Kashmir have been inducted into the IPS and have been allotted AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre of the service.

The officers are Shakti Kumar Pathak, Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, Javid Ahmed Kaul, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Shahid Mehraj Rather, Ajit Singh, Altaf Ahmed Khan, Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Vikas Gupta, Abdul Qayoom, Nisha Nathyal and Javid Iqbal Mattoo.

The joining of these officers in the IPS has cleared the way for their promotion to higher posts. Unless a police officer belongs to the IPS, he cannot rise above the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
