New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has signed a Memorandum of Undertaking* for implementation of Project regarding Conservation and Restoration of Connaught Place Building with State Bank of India and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) at NDMC Headquarter, Palika Kendra, New Delhi today.
The MoU was signed today by representatives from NDMC, SBI and INTACH in the presence of Shri Amit Yadav, Chairperson, NDMC and other senior officers of NDMC and Chief General Manager, SBI Shri Kalpesh K. Avasia and Convener, INTACH Smt. Anita Singh at Palika Kendra.
The aim of the MoU is Conservation and Restoration of façade including repair work, exterior painting work of Outer circle, Inner circle and Radial Roads of Connaught Place buildings in New Delhi. For this project, conservation and restoration of Connaught Place, State Bank of India has agreed to provide financial support under its Corporate Social Responsibility scheme (CSR).
NDMC will provide the supervision, logistical and administrative support for the purpose of smooth execution of the project and NDMC will also monitor the project undertaken by INTACH in reference to ensure quality of work and guidelines of Govt. of India and terms of approval of concerned departments and authorities. The Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India and Heritage Conservation committee has given NOC for carrying out the work.
As India holds the presidency of G20 countries for a year, this project will enable NDMC to showcase the unique heritage of New Delhi.
