Jhansi (UP) | A team of Special Task Force (STF) killed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Mohammad Asad along with shooter Ghulam in an encounter in Jhansi on Thursday. Both had a reward of five lakh rupees on their heads. In Jhansi, the STF team led by Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal carried out the encounter. State-of-the-art foreign weapons have been recovered from both.
On February 24, Asad was caught on camera firing at Umesh Pal in Dhumanganj, Prayagraj.
The encounter took place on a day when Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were being produced in a Prayagraj court.
ADG STF Amitabh Yash said that STF asked both to surrender, but they started firing, after which the team had to retaliate.
Meanwhile, during the court hearing, Ateeq Ahmed broke down when he came to know about his son’s encounter.
