Producer Roshan Singh, co-producer Sharmila R Singh, director Premanshu Singh and superstar Khesarilal Yadav’s much-awaited film “Rang De Basanti” is scheduled to be released in Pan India on March 22, but before that, Censor Board Chairman Prasoon Joshi has objected to the title of the film. Khesarilal Yadav’s Bhojpuri film ‘Rang De Basanti’ is facing trouble from the Censor Board Chairman regarding its title. The film’s producer Roshan Singh said that he had received a call from the CBFC requesting a change in the title of the film due to it having a similar title to an earlier released Hindi film. He said that I was contacted by someone named Ravi, who requested a change in the title of my film.
Roshan Singh informed that the screening of the film has been done, and we were informed about some cuts required to get the UA certificate, which is also mentioned on the official website of the board. He said that when we contacted the Censor Board office for information in this regard, we were told that your case is pending with the office of the Censor Board Chairman. Which is also registered on the official website. I informed about this through a letter on March 5. Yes, but the reason is not being told yet. And on March 8, I was called and requested to change the title of the film.
Producer Roshan Singh told that if there is no progress soon, we will explore our options. I am not willing to change the title as it would be impractical. The title is completely mine, and it is in Bhojpuri. It is shocking that we are being provided a weak excuse regarding the similarity of the title of a Hindi film, he said, adding that recently, a Bhojpuri film titled ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ was banned by the Censor Board. Approval was given.
Producer Roshan Singh said that the process is being deliberately delayed in the case of my film. He has accused the Hindi film ‘Rang De Basanti’ of pressurizing him for the title change due to the involvement of Censor Board Chairman Prasoon Joshi.
