Mumbai, February 15. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai starrer historical film ‘Jodha Akbar’ has completed 17 years of its release. On this occasion, the Oscar awards organiser ‘Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ will organise a special screening of the film in March.
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film ‘Jodha Akbar’ beautifully portrays the story of the union of Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha Bai on screen.
The film released in theatres in 2008 featured Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles. Their on-screen chemistry and Gowariker’s brilliant story made ‘Jodha Akbar’ an unforgettable cinematic experience.
Speaking about the film, Ashutosh Gowariker said, “On this 17th anniversary of Jodhaa Akbar, I am extremely grateful to the audiences who have kept it alive in their memories and have expressed their love for it. The journey of the film, from its release to now being honoured with a special screening at the Academy (Oscars), has been possible because of the brilliant work of everyone involved. The appreciation that ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ has received is encouraging and I am thrilled to see it being loved by audiences across the world.”
He further added, “This screening at the Academy is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage.”
The Academy recently showcased Aishwarya Rai’s stunning wedding lehenga from the film at a show by renowned costume designer Neeta Lulla.
A special screening of the film will be held at the Oscars Awards ceremony in March in Los Angeles to celebrate its lasting impact on global audiences.
‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is known not just for its grand sets but also for its stunning cinematography, costumes and a brilliant soundtrack.
The film featured Sonu Sood, Raza Murad, Ila Arun, Nikitin Dheer, Suhasini Mulay and other actors in important roles.
