Vav-Tharad, March 31 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated various development projects in Vav-Tharad, Gujarat, on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, he said, “The holy Navratri festival concluded just a few days ago. It is due to the grace of Mother Ambaji that I have the privilege of coming to her feet today.”
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “I bow at the feet of Mother Ambaji. It is also a happy coincidence that today we are celebrating Lord Mahavir Jayanti. Our region is home to numerous Jain pilgrimage sites. I bow to Lord Mahavir and wish you all a happy Mahavir Jayanti, a day of public welfare.”
PM Modi said, “Today, I am pleased with one more thing. For the first time since I came here, my plane landed directly at the Deesa airbase.” This Deesa airbase is just 130 km from the international border. You can understand how important it is for the country’s security. The idea for this Deesa airport project isn’t new; we acquired the land when I was Chief Minister. The farmers donated the land, and we believed that Deesa is crucial for national security and the security of the western border.
He said that the then Delhi government had shelved the project files, and when you sent me to Delhi, I retrieved them. As a result, a major Air Force base has been added to Deesa. This isn’t just an airstrip, but it will bring about significant activity. A large number of soldiers are stationed here. It will contribute significantly to the development of this region. PM Modi alleged that the project was delayed due to the previous central government.
PM Modi said, “You all know how much I love this area of Vav-Tharad and Banaskantha, and I can never forget your immense love for it.” I carried out this work on a mission mode. We advanced Gujarat as much as possible. Even today, central and state projects worth approximately 20,000 crore rupees are being launched here. This project will transform the entire region. This project will give new impetus to life here.
The Prime Minister said that today Gujarat is a leader in the field of solar energy, and its achievements are commendable. This state is at the forefront of renewable energy development in India because it began focusing on this sector when it was receiving very little attention at the national level. In 2010, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, I initiated the establishment of a solar park. A multi-technology project that accelerated the solar energy movement in the region.
He said that in 2010, while serving as Chief Minister, I inaugurated the country’s first solar park in Sarangpur. This is a multi-technology park in itself, which started the solar energy movement. The way solar energy work is being done in Gujarat today, like the projects related to the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, have just begun. The day is not far when Gujarat will emerge as a major global hub for renewable energy.
He said, “Today, I was reminded of the situation here decades ago. No one can forget the days when the mention of North Gujarat conjured up a different image in people’s minds. Who can forget the droughts, famines, and other such struggles? This life of struggle, and our continued neglect by the Congress government? Who can forget those days when we had to fetch water from miles away? We connected every village across Gujarat with good roads. We built high-speed highways. Gujarat is also receiving high-speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that over the past month, many countries around the world have been grappling with war, chaos, and instability. The situation in West Asia, in particular, is having a profound impact globally, creating an energy crisis that is affecting countries worldwide. Amid these challenges, India has been successful in maintaining stability and keeping the situation under control. This resilience has been possible due to India’s effective foreign policy and the unity of its people.
He said that some political parties are trying to exploit the current crisis for political gain. The Congress party, in particular, has been actively engaging in divisive politics at a time when the country needs unity the most. Instead of fostering trust and solidarity, Congress leaders are spreading fear and rumors, weakening the collective strength needed to face these difficult times.
Referring to the Youth Congress’s protest during the AI Summit in Delhi, the PM said that while the summit was being praised worldwide, Congress members even tore their own clothes. Their aim was to tarnish India’s image before the world. Even in today’s circumstances, the Congress is speaking the language of foreign forces that harbor hatred towards India. We must be wary of this conspiracy by the Congress. This is the time to be vigilant.
The PM said that from the Panchayat to the Parliament, as long as your trust remains, the superfast express of development will continue to move at the same speed.
