Adityanath meets PM Modi

New Delhi| Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to apprise him of the political situation in the state and the steps taken to control the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Adityanath has reached the Prime Minister’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in the national capital. Sources said Adityanath is also expected to appraise the prime minister about the possible changes in Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.

After meeting with the prime minister, Adityanath will meet BJP chief JP Nadda to discuss the political situation in the states and possible cabinet expansion or reshuffle ahead of next year’s assembly polls.

On Thursday, Adityanath met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who, apart from the political situation and the saffron party’s preparedness, also discussed the BJP’s performance in the recent panchayat elections and elected its members as ‘zila panchayat presidents’. It was decided to focus on choosing.

Former Union minister and Apna Dal chief Anupriya Patel had joined the discussion between Shah and Adityanath.

Shah also held a separate meeting with Patel after Adityanath left.

Later in the evening, Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad and his son also met Shah.

On Thursday afternoon, Adityanath reached Delhi to discuss preparations for next year’s Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with the party’s central leadership. The sources also said that the Uttar Pradesh government’s handling of the COVID situation during the second wave of the pandemic is also likely to be discussed during the meetings.

While the state’s efforts were criticized by the opposition, the BJP leadership has lauded the work done by the UP government.
