Ajit Pawar dies in plane crash: PM Modi speaks to CM Fadnavis, Amit Shah leaves for Baramati

New Delhi, January 28 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. He spoke to the state’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone.

According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone and received full details of the incident. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also called CM Fadnavis. Maharashtra government officials said that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have been briefed on the accident and the current situation.

Expressing condolences on the death of Ajit Pawar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra. My condolences are with all those who lost their loved ones in this accident. I pray that the grieving families find strength and courage in this hour of grief.”

Regarding Ajit Pawar, PM Modi said, “He was a people’s leader who had a deep connection with the people and the grassroots. He was highly respected as a hardworking man, always at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. He had a deep understanding of administrative matters. His passion for empowering the poor and needy was particularly remarkable. His sudden demise is shocking and saddening. My deepest condolences to his family and countless supporters.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and our senior NDA colleague Ajit Pawar in a tragic accident. Words cannot express the dedication Ajit Pawar devoted himself to the welfare of every section of Maharashtra over the past three and a half decades. Whenever we met, he would have lengthy discussions on various issues related to the welfare of the people of Maharashtra. His demise is a personal loss for me as well as the NDA family.”

He further wrote in the post, “I express my deepest condolences to the Pawar family. The entire NDA stands firmly with the bereaved Pawar family in this hour of grief. May God grant the departed soul a place in His feet.”

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was traveling from Mumbai to Baramati to attend a public meeting on Wednesday. His plane crashed while landing near Baramati at around 9 am. It is reported that the plane went out of control and crashed while landing at an airport in Baramati. The plane caught fire after the crash. According to reports, no one on board survived the accident.
