PM Modi expressed grief over the stampede in Vaishno Devi Bhawan, announced compensation

New Delhi| Expressing grief over the death of devotees in a stampede at Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning, the Prime Minister wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Prime Minister also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the family of each person who lost his life in this stampede and Rs 50,000 to the injured. He took full information about the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan and the people injured and killed in it from the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha. The Prime Minister also took stock of the situation by talking to Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Lok Sabha MP from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir about the incident.

Expressing grief over the incident, Prime Minister Modi tweeted and wrote, “Extremely saddened by the loss of life in the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan. Condolences to the bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

The Prime Minister further said in his tweet, “Spoke to Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Nityanand Rai to take stock of the situation.”

After this, in a tweet, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that the Prime Minister, taking stock of the tragic situation caused by the stampede, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and also directed them to provide all possible medical and other assistance to the injured.
