AQI in Delhi in ‘very poor’ category

New Delhi, November 17 The air quality in Delhi reached the “very poor” category at one point on Friday evening and the city’s overall AQI was recorded at 398. This has come to light in the data of System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).

According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data at 6 pm, PM2.5 level was recorded at 133 and PM10 level at 185 in Anand Vihar, which are in the moderate category. Carbon monoxide (CO) also remained in the “moderate” category with 106.

AQI levels between zero and 50 are considered “good”. It is rated as “satisfactory” between 51 and 100; “medium” between 101 and 200; “bad” between 201 and 300; “very bad” between 301 and 400; and between 401 and 500 is considered “severe”.

The PM2.5 level in Bawana was 318 or “very poor” category and the PM10 level was 254 or “poor” category. CO was at 70 or “satisfactory” level.

In Aya Nagar, PM 2.5 reached 224 under the “poor” category, while PM 10 stood at 178 under the “moderate” category. The CO level was recorded at 66 under the “satisfactory” category.

In Dwarka Sector-8, PM10 levels were recorded at 452 or “severe” and PM2.5 levels at 341 or “very poor”.

The air quality at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was in the “very poor” category. Here the level of PM2.5 was recorded at 315 and that of PM10 at 202. The CO level was 98 and NO2 was in the “satisfactory” category at 53.

PM2.5 levels in Okhla Phase-2 were recorded at 297, while PM10 levels reached 279, both falling in the “poor” category. The level of NO2 was recorded at 169 and that of CO at 117. Both were at the “medium” level. The AQI in Siri Fort stood at 328 with PM2.5 concentration under the “very poor” category, while PM10 levels were recorded at 244 in the “poor” category. The CO level here was in the “moderate” category at 102.
