Arnab Goswami arrested by Maharashtra Police

MUMBAI | The Raigad unit of Maharashtra police raided the home of Arnab Goswami, owner and chief editor of Republic TV on Wednesday morning and arrested him in a case of abetment to suicide. A senior police officer Sachin Vaiz said Goswami has been arrested in the 2018 suicide case. The case was closed earlier, which has now been reopened.

The police team arrested the head of the Republic TV after entering his house. His family opposed it and his colleagues tried to do live coverage of it.

The channel has strongly protested that “the editor of a top Indian news channel was picked up by 20 to 30 policemen who barged into the house like a criminal, threatened and did not even let them drink water.”

Goswami told the police van that he was assaulted. His son was beaten and mistreated with his in-laws. On the other hand, his colleagues broadcast the development and demanded justice from the judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court.

It is believed that he will be taken to Alibaug in Raigad.
