Chandigarh | Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh, who was on the run since March 18, was arrested by the Punjab Police from Moga district on Sunday. Officials said three days before Amritpal’s arrest, his UK-origin wife Kirandeep Kaur was stopped at the Amritsar airport and denied permission to board a flight to Birmingham by immigration officials.
After questioning, Kaur has been sent to her home at Jallupur Kheda in Amritsar district and asked not to leave the country without informing the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Satinder Singh told the media, “We have stopped Kirandeep Kaur from leaving the country.” He was neither detained nor arrested. He was stopped because he was needed for questioning in the case.
Officials told IANS that Kaur has a limited-period visa to India, which is about to expire.
