CBI remands two accused, including the mastermind, to 10-day custody in the NEET paper leak case

New Delhi, May 16 In a major move, the CBI arrested two accused, including the mastermind, in the NEET paper leak case. The investigating agency produced them in court on Saturday, where the court remanded them, along with the mastermind, to 10-day CBI custody. The court of Special CBI Judge Ajay Gupta issued this order.

According to reports, chemistry teacher PV Kulkarni is believed to be the mastermind of the NEET paper leak scandal. The CBI arrested him and his associate Manisha Waghmare from Pune.

The investigating agency says that interrogation of the two accused is likely to reveal other individuals involved in the paper leak network and the entire mechanism of the conspiracy.

During the hearing, the CBI told the court that Manisha Waghmare, Dhananjay Lokhande, PV Kulkarni, and Manisha Mandre were in contact with each other and were all involved in the paper leak conspiracy. The central investigating agency sought custody of the accused, stating that they had to be taken to other parts of the country as part of the investigation, requiring longer custody.

The lawyer representing Manisha Waghmare opposed the CBI’s demand for custody, stating that his client was being held illegally. He claimed that the Pune Police held Manisha in their custody for more than 24 hours, and also stated that there was no concrete evidence against her and that action was being taken solely on the basis of alleged disclosures.

PV Kulkarni’s lawyer also refuted the allegations, stating that even if he had prepared the question paper, he had no knowledge whether the questions he prepared would be selected by the NTA.
