New Delhi| The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Thursday that it searched the premises of a Social Security Officer of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in a disproportionate assets case in Goa, forfeiting Rs 15 lakh. A CBI spokesperson here said that the agency searched the premises of social security officer ESIC Hanif Sheikh posted in Panaji, Goa.
He said cash recovery of Rs 15.23 lakh was made at Sheikh’s office and residential premises in Panaji and Madgaon. Also, FDRs worth Rs 14 lakh and investment and objectionable documents made in the properties by the accused and their family members were recovered.
He said that it was alleged that Sheikh acquired property during the period from January 1, 2005, to February 15, 2021, in his name and in the name of his family members, apart from known sources of his income.
