New Delhi, 06 May:Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta has participate in the Mega Cleanliness Drive- ‘Shramdan’- at Hanuman Mandir Complex, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi today in the presence of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairperson, Shri Keshav Chandra and Vice Chairperson – Shri Kuljeeet Singh Chahal.
On the occasion, Delhi Chief Minister – Mrs. Rekha Gupta has said that clean Delhi is the right of every Delhi resident and for this purpose, Delhi Government has launched a 20 days cleanliness campaign for Shramdan in which employees of civic bodies like NDMC, MCD and PWD department employees and officers are being involved.
This campaign is dedicated to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan started by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, which has awakened a new consciousness towards cleanliness across the country and transformed it into a mass movement.
She informed that in this cleanliness drive, all the employees and officers are out in the field and on the roads and actively participating in this cleanliness drive. I too participated in the symbolic ‘Shramdan’ at Hanuman Mandir premises today to inspire the general public.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister called upon all the employees, officers, public representatives, Residential Welfare Association, Market Traders Association and social organizations to actively participate in this campaign by Sharmdan for making Delhi clean, neat and beautiful.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts being made by NDMC for cleanliness and said that the employees and officers here have left no stone unturned in making their area neat & clean. As a result of this, we have had to do symbolic cleaning here today.
She appealed to the social, religious and cultural organizations that whenever they organize their programs like rally, procession, bhandara, jagran etc., then it is their responsibility not to leave garbage there after the program. When the public and organizations themselves will feel their responsibility towards cleanliness, then Delhi will automatically start becoming clean and beautiful.
NDMC – Vice Chairperson, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal informed that this unprecedented civic initiative marks the first time that more than 10,000 NDMC employee along with officers and HoDs have engage in a one-hour cleanliness effort before attending regular office duties daily for 20 days in Sharmdan Drive, which is spread across the 14 sanitation circles simultaneously in whole NDMC area.
Shri Chahal further said that in addition to the sanitation workers, Horticulture, Fire Service, Civil and Electrical Engineering staff participated also on field. Hospitals, Dispensaries, Schools and Electric Substations carried out sanitation drives in their own premises daily under the Sharmdan drive. NDMC has also engaged the members of the local Market Traders Association, Residential Welfare Association and other social organizations.
He also said that to fulfil the dream of a developed India that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has seen through a component of the Swachh Bharat Mission, this cleanliness campaign cannot be completed without public participation. All the citizen in New Delhi will have to come forward and join this campaign at the community level, only then all Delhiites will be able to live in a clean, healthy and beautiful Delhi.
