Congress leader Jitin Prasada joins BJP

New Delhi | Congress leader and minister in the Manmohan Singh government, Jitin Prasada joined the BJP on Wednesday. Union Minister Piyush Goyal inducted him into the party at the BJP headquarters. Jitin Prasad was angry with the leadership for a long time due to being neglected in Congress.

Jitin Prasad belongs to a political family. His father Jitendra Prasad has been the Vice President of Congress. Jitin Prasada started his career as a secretary in the Indian Youth Congress in 2001.

Jitin won for the first time in 2004 by contesting the Lok Sabha elections from his home constituency Shahjahanpur. After this, he became the Union State Steel Minister in the year 2008 in the Manmohan Singh government. In 2009, the seat changed due to delimitation and Jitin had to contest from Dhaurhara for the 15th Lok Sabha. He won from here too and then remained a minister in the Manmohan Singh government. In the UPA government, he was a minister in the ministry of road construction and highways, human resources, steel.
