CP Delhi inaugurates new premises of cyber police station in ps model town complex, North West district

New Delhi: Sh. Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Police, Delhi inaugurated the new premises of Cyber Police Station North-West District at PS Model Town Complex, today, for detection & prevention of cyber crimes. Newly constructed premises of Cyber PS includes facilities like modern work-stations for investigating officers equipped with high speed internet & data connectivity, latest computer hardwares & softwares, State-of-the-art forensic lab, visitor’s room, CCTNS room, IO’s rooms, barracks, malkhana room, record room etc. The aim is to deal with the complaints & cases related to cyber crime with alacrity, swift response & professionalism and to ensure quality investigations of such crimes. On the occasion, new Conference Hall of the district was also inaugurated by the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the CP, Delhi underlined that the objective of opening Cyber Crime Police Stations in every district is to serve the citizens who fall prey to cyber fraud for prompt and quality investigation. All cyber crimes occurred in the jurisdiction of district will be reported at the Cyber Police Station.  The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of Delhi Police is one of the best equipped cyber lab in the country and district Cyber Police Stations will work in synergy and coordination of this Centralized Special Unit. The SHOs of these police stations have been interviewed and selected on the basis of their aptitude and interest.

Emphasizing the importance ‘Golden Hour’, the CP, Delhi said that early reporting is very crucial for the crime committed in virtual space for maximum recovery. Also there is insistent need to upgrade ourselves as very soon cyber crime will make up 80 to 90 percent of all crime. Since technology is fast changing, the police has to be one step ahead to checkmate criminals. Thus, more than 10,000 personnel have been trained to handle cyber crime cases. Delhi Police is best equipped to counter new techniques adopted by anti-social elements.

A short film with social message on cyber crime awareness and a pantomime show on “OTP Frauds” were also organized for awareness of attendees on recent trends of cyber crime and how to protect self from falling prey to such crimes. The CP, Delhi felicitated 13 students of different schools for their performance in an Inter-School Debate Competition organized by North-West District on the topic “Internet is a Double Edged Sword”. The students were given cash rewards, commendation certificates and mementos.

Spl. CsP Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, Sh. Dependra Pathak, Sh. Neeraj Thakur, Sh. Ravinder Singh Yadav, Sh. Madhup Kumar Tiwari, Smt. Shalini Singh, Dr. Sagar Preet Hudda, Jt CsP and DCsP were present on this occasion, besides representatives from public.
