Criminal cases against 9 ministers in Karnataka, all crorepatis: Report

New Delhi | According to Karnataka Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reports, nine ministers who took oath in Karnataka have criminal cases against them and all are crorepatis. The report states that in this K.J. George’s case is not included as his details are not available on the Election Commission’s website.

All nine ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves, while four ministers have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, the report said.

Highlighting the financial background of the nine ministers, the report said that all the nine ministers of Karnataka are crorepatis.

It said the average assets of the nine ministers analyzed is Rs 229.27 crore.

The report further states that Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar is the richest. He has declared total assets of Rs 1,413.80 crore, while Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge is the minister with the lowest declared assets.

Priyank, who is an MLA from Chittapur (SC) constituency, has declared assets worth Rs 16.83 crore.

The report also states that all nine ministers have declared their liabilities. Of these, the person with the highest liability is Shivkumar, who owes Rs 265.06 crore.

Highlighting the education of the ministers, the report said, three ministers have declared their educational qualification to be between the 8th pass to 12th pass, while six ministers have declared their educational qualification as graduate and above.

It also states that five ministers have declared their age between 41 and 60 years while four ministers have declared their age between 61 and 80 years.

The report also pointed out that there is no woman minister in the new cabinet of Karnataka.
